Custom 304 Stainless Steel Waste Bins for Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport T3

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport opened its Terminal 3 on 30 October 2025. At more than 680,000 m², T3 is billed as the world’s largest single terminal, and it lifts the airport’s annual capacity to 120 million passengers.

MAX Urban Furniture supplied 600 custom indoor and outdoor 304 stainless steel recycling bins for the terminal. It is our second major project with the airport since 2016.

Project Overview

A terminal of this size puts any piece of street furniture under constant pressure. The bins here have to cope with a steady flow of passengers, stay clean-looking all day, and sit comfortably inside a very polished interior. We built them for exactly that, in two versions: one for the indoor halls and one for the outdoor kerbside areas.

Key Features

Separate openings for each waste stream
Each bin has a square opening for recyclables and a round one for general waste. Passengers can tell the two apart at a glance, which helps cut down on mis-sorting. The outdoor units also include a trapezoidal cigarette disposal with side deflectors that stop butts from dropping out, reducing the risk of fire.

Deep brushed finish, resistant to fingerprints
Every bin is hand-polished to a deep brushed grain and sealed with an anti-fingerprint coating. Marks wipe off easily, so the bins keep looking sharp even in the busiest parts of the terminal.

Leak-proof and gentle on floors
The inner and outer containers are double-sealed to keep liquids from leaking. Non-slip rubber bases cut down on noise and protect the floor from scratches when the bins are moved for cleaning.

Etched with the terminal’s emblem
Each bin is etched with T3’s signature “Flower Crown” emblem, so it looks like part of the building rather than something added afterwards.
